They were allowed to waltz into the first LTTE FDL and then the LTTE dropped the hammer on them with arti and mortars, the rest is history as they say...
It seems other way around. If you look closely at those tamilnet pictures, you would understand that LTTE has taken those pictures at SLA bunkers (pictures are available in tamilnet). It is possible that LTTE went on a pre-emptive attack on SLA positions knowing that SLA is gathering momentum for a major offensive.
Casualty figures (150 SLA dead) are not a big surprise given that the battle lasted for 10 hours. During the offensive, LTTE might collect same numbers or more, since SLA was in a defensive mode with better fire power.

Are you kidding? LTTE even has weather controlled weapons and lightning powered weapons and a lot more we are not going to tell you.
WE TAMILS unlike the SLA do not reveal our plans before the attack.
