April 23, 2008: The long feared LTTE counter-attack came in Jaffna. The well trained LTTE fighters attacked army positions and drove back the troops. Unlike in the past, the soldiers rallied and held their lines. The main fighting lasted all day (eleven hours) and left over 200 dead (about 40 percent of them LTTE) and several hundred wounded on both sides. The army always believed that the LTTE was holding back a force of several hundred combat veterans. This reserve could be used for a last stand, or an offensive meant to demoralize the army and halt the dismantling of LTTE defenses in the north. In the last four months, the army believes it has killed 3,100 LTTE fighters. At the start of the year, there were believed to be 5,000 LTTE fighters under arms, and since then, several thousand more have been recruited. This included many teenagers, which caused a stink with NGOs, and the parents of many of the kids. The LTTE is short on weapons and ammo. The way this script works, once the 'victory offensive' fails, despair follows and morale plummets. But the core leadership of the LTTE is pretty fanatic and ruthless. This will probably end ugly.

And the Romans were also Tamils, converted to Paganism and later Christianity.

BREAKING NEWS: Army captures Madhu Church

The Sri Lanka Army captured the Madhu Church at 1pm today. Sources very close to DefenceWire confirmed that the church and the sanctuary around it of four square kilometers is now in Army hands. Palampiddi, another strategic location north of Madhu is expected to fall within the next few days.

I assume most of the 150 SLA killed must be Tamils as they are from the Jaffna regiment. Or does the SLA discrimiate and not hire Tamils?

This is not a time for decision making but the people have common sense will not support the war. War are always for the own gains. Peace for the common gain. who love people will love peace. Who are self wish will love war. All the war in the past also not for the common gain. One person at his end of the life have to count the number of people he has helped not the number of people directly or indirectly killed. One tree cant give two type of fruits. You have to decide whether our fruits are sweet to the others or bitter.Come we will make srilanka prosper. Pray for the peace. I am praying for the people in the path of peace and remove the people from the vicinity those who are against to the peace. This should be every bodies prayer. We are brothers should not fight we have to fight against the force coming from out side not inside.

Thank u..Pls tell me ..How many LTTE cadres they killed before capturing the Madhu Church or was the Church Empty when they went in?

If it is Empty..I think you should avoid using the word 'CAPTURED'
