So, how would you resolve this fairly fresh SL conflict?

Jaffna theatre is different from the Wanni. Open ground, not much cover and SLA faces a well entrenched, well motivated and well armed Tiger force. Yes they made gains, but look at the cost. Tigers outsmarted the Army with a feigned withdrawal(I am not an expert but i read CNN and all news sources, but we in SL cannot get TamilNet but i am told they posted photos).What was all this . about them being tired, weak, hungry and running out of ammo? All rubbish it turned out. Sure they lost more but they are willing to lose more cadre. That is not a victory.

...Golly did they not learn from 2006? And the SLAF cannot sustain Ground support attacks unlike the USAF because we do not have the same capacity. So there are intermittent pinprick attacks but it is not in coordination with the army attacks. it cannot be done because of limitations of resources. So when the Army attacks, the SLAF cannot attack simultaneously because of dangers of artillery fire damaging Mi-24s.

military or a military egomaniac ordered this attack to meet political goals for Eastern Elections and also to try to win the propaganda war when the South is reeling under heavy cost of living increases.

Did the Army top again underestimate the enemy? When will heads roll? Or do they ever roll? In 10 hrs to lose that many soldiers? Don't forget even the 'official' govt estimate of KIA is now upto 75 incl 33 MIA. So how about the Cat-2 and Cat-3 wounded? how many lost limbs? That is equally important because that means they are removed from further action.

Army is missing a lot of troops in addition to the killed. Not only are the tigers asking for blood, so is the army and govt officials. So who is winning? no one. It is once again a zero sum game played by politicians with their sycophantic commanders who want their extensions and perks it looks like..

War is really good for Access and wealth manufacuturing and to make stacks of dough so high they can save for the dowries of their yet to be born granddaughters.

H.E Mahinda needs to wake up to reality of war. This was not the place for offensive actions because of the terrain. Both sides know who is where at any given time. He should not give political deadlines. Let the Army progress slowly in the Wanni. They are winning there.

This is in contrast to the Wanni areas where small team ops give the SLA the upper hand. But once again Tigers have shown they have the manpower and the firepower and the ammunition to sustain large strikes and cause massive damage to blunt offensive actions

Their weapons are Mortars and Artillery and despite all these claims by SLAF, they are still retain most of it . Why or How? Is India arming them as well to force a stalemate?
