Sri Lanka trade deficit widens by US$147 million in February

Sri Lanka`s Central bank said today that the country`s deficit in the trade balance widened to US dollars 317 million in February 2008 from US dollars 147 million in February 2007.

Expenditure on imports in February 2008 increased by 31 per cent to US$ 960 million outpacing the earnings from exports which increased only by 9.7 per cent in February to US$ 643 million, the Bank said today in its monthly report on external trade performance for February.

Tea, rubber products, machinery and equipment, minor agricultural products, gems and jewellery, and rubber were amongst the main categories of exports that contributed to the earnings.

Earlier, It was Teas, Rubber and COCONUT.

What Happened to Coconuts ???????

with Jeyaraj lot of tamils died during the explosion.

Tamils died every time when there was a explosion in the South.

What is the population deficit between Tamils and Sinhalese?
Widening in trade deficit is nothing as far as population deficit is widening.
