SLA vehicle fatally knocks down Tamil cyclist on A9 road

A Tamil civilian was killed when an armored vehicle of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) knocked him down on the eve of Tamil-Sinhala New Year Day. The victim Kaalimuththu Ledchumanan, 44, of Paththiniyaar Makizhangku`lam was cycling towards home Sunday afternoon around 1:00 p.m. along A-9 highway from Thaandikul`am when the armored vehicle knocked him down fatally, media sources said.
The Vavuniyaa Police informed Vavuniyaa Magistrate M.Ilancheliyan Monday morning about the fatal accident.
The police further told court that they have arrested the army driver who drove the armored vehicle on that day and the inquiry was underway.

It was very common in Jaffna sometimes back.
Cyclists,
you have to use your brain to run away with or withour you bike from the road as those trucks rarely slow down the speed for the opposite direction traffic. |

This is not news, these things happen in every day life.
But if the news says 'Tamil cyclist fatally knocks down SLA vehicle on A9 road', then that would be news.

Yes they do.
When Homophobic- Racist SLA drive on the road, whenever they see a Tamil riding a bike, they just run over them. It is a 'WIDELY' known fact that Sri Lankan Government forces are discriminatory against Tamils. At least 75% of the cyclists killed last year by the SLA are Tamils. The rest are accidents, analysts said. |

It was just an accident like the ones that occur anywhere else.
Unfortunately, the cyclist happened to be a tamil and succunbed to his injuries.
BUT the caption to this article is very provocative.
The unfortunate side to journalism as they look for s8ckers to capitalise on the racist to subscribe intensively.
Lets be passive and ignore it with a small prayer for the soul of the cyclist. |
