Because some eminent highly educated people who met him had called him 'Sir'
I assure you that if I had met him I would have called him 'Thambi'. That is the basis of my association with the Tigers. In issues of Public Administration I am my own boss. I might have said Sir only if he had called me Madam - each one respecting others highest status in their chosen fields.
