The Tigers are in disarray in Australia one their strongest bases abroad. Three local factors have weakened the LTTE operations in Australia: 1) raids by Federal Police on their offices (2) prosecution of three LTTE suspects now facing trial and (3) the sudden death of Jayakumar, the LTTE chief in Melbourne, on the eve of the Federal Police raid on his house. These factors together with the military failures of the LTTE in Sri Lanka have reduced the massive support the LTTE had among the Tamil diaspora.
