OK, I repost what I posted for Ani,
Its no wonder Ani, there are many monks or just Sinhalese living with useless proud. Its normal in any country. If you even got a chance to learn Buddhism bit detail, you will understand how fair the thinking that it has.
Also the content it self is unimaginable size deep, which even difficult to believe came from just one source.
Thats the basic reason, real Buddhists are easily tolerate all other religions.
About the state religion, its partly a political action, and also partly a cultural move to keep the Majority happy. But, the constitution clearly says, all other religions are having full freedom to follow.
After making it the state religion, nothing change a lot I think. Anyway, as you said, religion is in the heart. Today, some people are having it in the pocket too..!
Because of JHU, some Tamils became suspicious of Buddhism. But, its just an small unit, and mainly for politics.

As I explained to Che (and misinterpreted by you), every time White van incidents go up, the bombings go down, BUT it also naturally means innocent Tamils would be caught in it too.
I ( as well as most Sri Lankan's) too would want all suspects arrested and charged using the normal procedures, or we would be no better than your Paradise in TE

I think many of you folks take my words out of context. When I say modaya, many Sinhala fellows seem to get upset as if I am directly addressing them and as if they admiting that 'all' the Sinhalese as modayas. Those were the times I have said 'sorry' because some people had taken my words personally.
