Ani
An old Tamil Catholic priest was seated in the first row, reserved for 'clergy'. A young Buddhist monk got on the bus, went to 'that' seat and claimed his 'rightful' place. The Catholic priest got up and travelled standing for the rest of the journey.
when was this? |

In my mind I think religion should never be allowed to come into public life. All religions should be equal. I would like to know your thoughts:))
In countries governed by sensible people, yes! Makes perfect sense.
But, you are talking about a country governed by psudo-religious fanatics. So, many rules that peace-loving democratic countries practice does not hold true in Buddhistan!

Ani,

Its no wonder Ani, there are many monks or just Sinhalese living with useless proud. Its normal in any country. If you even got a chance to learn Buddhism bit detail, you will understand how fair the thinking that it has.
Also the content it self is unimaginable size deep, which even difficult to believe came from just one source.
Thats the basic reason, real Buddhists are easily tolerate all other religions.
About the state religion, its partly a political action, and also partly a cultural move to keep the Majority happy. But, the constitution clearly says, all other religions are having full freedom to follow.
After making it the state religion, nothing change a lot I think. Anyway, as you said, religion is in the heart. Today, some people are having it in the pocket too..! |

EEE,
If you dont respect all religions at same level, I suggest not to comment on religion topic.
How can you say 2 people with same religion are 100% equali..? If that the case, we will never have wars in the world..! |

I am also hoping for peace . but I dont think there is a chance for peace with the LTTE .
That is the Majority Sinhalese View. I believe if both parties work hard there will be Peace..
That is not an organization that can handle or wants peace .
It is the same with the Gosl..U and i know Political parties are only interested in filling their pockets..
That is why I think what Mahinda is doing is the only thing possible
Yes..That is WAR..or fight the LTTE..
In My opinion it is easier to achieve PEACE than continue FIGHTING.
We can't do it within SL cos there is No Trust between LTTE and GoSL.
We need some country to be the Mediator. |
