Here is a book to be read by all pro-liberal members if the society and our forum. Is it really fair to think that problems on our soils and the likes are mere creation of our own stupidity? How do we response to covert operations functioning undetected? Most of all how do we identify real friends.
In the 1970`s Susan George wrote two books titled, A Fate Worse Than Death and How The Other Half Dies. Before that were two books titled Hidden Persuaders and Waste Makers referring to big MNCs, Susan George`s books were a severe criticism of how the
World Bank and the IMF functioned. How their policies have made smaller underdeveloped nations debt ridden and how the poor were dying because of it. This was followed in recent years by Dr. Joseph Stiglitz who in two books criticized the World Bank and IMF for their policies. It was a damning account for he had been the Chairman of The Economic Council of the President of the U. S. He was also the Senior Deputy President of World Bank and its Chief Economist. Further he was a Nobel Laureate in economics.
Now comes the book called The Confessions Of An Economic Hitman by John Perkins which lays bare the functioning of the World Bank and the Western nations led by the US. It is a startling account of a World Bank consultant who decided to reveal it all. To kiss and tell. He shows how the World Bank mercilessly exploits those poor countries to which it lends. It must be read to be believed. It also shows how hypocritical and exploitative Western nations are towards rest of the world. And what subtle and not so subtle methods they would adopt for economic exploitation.
It is recommended reading for all those who have an interest in economic development of our country and to know the real intentions of the World Bank and how they operate.
To repeat the title of the book, it is: `The Confessions of An Economic Hit Man.` The title is suggestive of what is to be expected, It is recommended reading for
Central Bank economists, finance ministry and other ministry officials, economists, students of economics, university professors, intelligent politicians and the general public, and can be bought from Amazon books. It is worth the price. Not only must you read it but also pass it on to your friends. It is likely that some of you have read it. It was first published in 2004. Once read, you will not be taken in by such rhetoric as the axis of evil of Bush. When the EHM and the CIA cannot tame a country they send the American youth to die, in military action. Eg. Iraq & now Iran.
Here is a quote from its preface.
`Economic hit men (EHMs) are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars. They funneled money from the World Bank, US Agency for International Development and other foreign aid organizations into the coffers of huge corporations and the pockets of the few wealthy families who control the planet`s natural resources. Their tools include fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex and even murder. They play a game as old as the Empire, but one that has taken on new and terrifying dimensions during this time of globalization. I should know I was an EHM.` John Perkins. 2004
