LTTE fires at fishermen crossing into cleared area

Three fishermen died and another three injured when eleven fishermen held by LTTE terrorists who attempted to enter the cleared area at Omanthai Forward Defence Line were caught up in a crossfire yesterday around 01.30 a.m.

According to a spokesman of the Media Centre for National Security Forces personnel manning the FDL had witnessed eleven persons trying to infiltrate the cleared area, followed by several armed LTTE cadres.

The LTTE chased the fishermen and opened fire at them. The security personnel had also reiterated, the Media Centre for National Security said. After the LTTE cadres were chased from the area, the Army found three bodies and another three injured persons.

Five persons who were later proved as fishermen held by the LTTE were rescued unhurt.

I thing this is not an easy thing to escape from LTTE custudy and come up to omanthai check point...i have read so
many headlines regarding this incident. wich is true?
