Rathnasiri Wickremanayake
Let me try..
He is one link MR has to the old SLFP of the Bandaranayake's. He is kept for announcing new minor 'policy' material concocted by the MR brothers to the country as the public still has respect for this guy mainly because he still appears to be not corrupt although absolutely useless. He is kind of like Mervyn Silva, who also spent his life 'serving' the SLFP of the B's and is useful for 'non policy' related ops of the MR brothers. They will both be in the GOVT as long as the GOVT is there for the same reasons albeit for the exact opposite use. |

AnuD,
Exactly what that former Tamil - Muslim PResident did in India.
You mean all the other Indian presidents did more useful things than this Tami-Muslim guy? As such, your argument is full of hatred and is ill-founded as usual..! |

According to AnuD, Tamils and LTTE are one and the same. So who are the LTTE torturing now? Do they torture themselves? :P
According to SKB, Tamils and LTTE are two different entities, and LTTE torture tamils. Edited By - AnuD - 24 Mar 2008 20:08:34 GMT |

AnuD:
My question was a serious one as this guy does not have any ministries under him, he is not the govt whip in parliament. Compared to other ministers he does not even go out of the country.
Before JR created the executive presidency the president was just a figure head: is that the position given under this govt? I think the constitution gives more powers. When Ranil was PM he interacted with all leading state leaders and always kept the ball rolling. I don't see this guy doing anything other than taking part in a funeral, temple function or opening a corner boutique.

| But you cannot completely blame the constitution. Politicians only pick and chose when it suits them and the legal system in SL has lost its backbone and turned into a kangaroo system. |

DVLADV:
I gave a serious answer too.
Anyway, At present PREsident, HEad of the 'Supreme Court and a few Ministers handle most of the issues.
So, all others out of 225 are honorary positions.
SO, you need to understand that the PResident and a several are the minimum requirement. All others are extra.
Yet tamils and muslims need more provincial councils and Sri Lanka is a Mess after 13th amendment. |
