Tamil youths took up arms to stop anti-Tamil riots, Sinhala colonisation of Tamil speaking areas and destruction of the cultural heritage and livelihood.
For more than 30 years Sinhala govt and establishments attacked unarmed Tamils and ferried them to Tamil areas and sent army to oppress them.
Tamils wanted their language to be recognised as also an official language in 1956. Either Sinhala Only be repealed or devolve power to share it with minorities. Unless the minorities are treated as SL citizens as equal to the majority community there cannot be peace all round. |
