He invented the satellite communications. Now we can't even imagine how a global communication would occur without satellites.
My tribute to a great inventor. |

In Australia I find Sinhalese get friendly with white people easily than Tamils.
This is very true..! You can see a similar quality with the govt. of Sri Lanka in mixing around with many foreign nations really well..! Their main baits to these countries are fake oil reserves, Trico harbour etc etc..! This is called prostitute bahaviour in deplomatic circles..!
I agree that the Sinhalese get 'friendly' with white people than Tamils..! :P |

| A great writer - I enjoyed his books. '2001, A Space Odyssey', Stanley Kubrick's film of Clarke's book, is probably one of the best science-fiction films ever made. |

at the last UN summit, most world leaders (from civilised countries) refused to meet Rajapakse, but to make up for it Rajapakse had a meeting with Ahmadinejad!
then Rajapakse had a photoshoot with Sharukh Khan :)

SL is so friendly now even Iranians are coming!
1200 Iranians will arrive in Sri Lanka today. They will remain in the country for a week. The Iranians will arrive in nice batches states the Ministry of tourism and adds that Sri Lanka will receive foreign exchange amounting to US$1.2 million from this tour.
Hmmm! SL could not turn it into a Singapore so is it trying to turn it into a Thailand?
Did MR actually have plans when he said no more maids to ME?

A promise to be fulfilled
Sir Arthur Clerk made three wishes to achieve before his death, on his last B day.
* we're still waiting for E.T. to call us or give us some kind of sign
* To see us kick our current addiction to oil and adopt clean energy sources
*To see lasting peace established in Sri Lanka.
President Rajapakse said he is unable to do anything on first two. But he promised to make the third one.
Good bye Sir.

Pharoah,

This is typically how friendship is built with whites in Australia..! Same goes to GoSL with foreign diplomats..!
The UN summit was a failure, because MR himself attended and no one was interested..! LOL

I agree with Aani. Motta Raala should have the least chance of achieving the third one. He should better try the first two than wasting time on third.
Anyway, I cannot understand why Clarke made that wish. Gon nabmas in this country well deserve war.
