GOSL democratic system
There is No Law & Order in the country..Human rights records at all time low..Thuggary is the main weapon used against anyone who opens the Mouth..Kidnapping is on the rise. No discipline in the Police Force (We never heard of the Policeman who sexually harassed the Tamil woman while checking)..

I am afraid, when Tamil Eelam is established, there will be a huge influx of Sinhalese, running away from brutality in Sri Lanka and seeking refuge in TE.
Tamils must be kind to these Sinhala refugees. |

Reallity is Canada UK has no life without US.
They both are direct dependants of uncle Sam.
If US cut one space program or 'feeding the world free' program
Or securing the world free program
Us can beat UK and Canada only by selling Cokes and candy

A government elected by vote is only partially or namesake a democratic. To be democratic it has to be elected by the people for the people. According to your definition Zimbabwe, Kenya, Iran, Pakistan under Mushraf were and are democracies. But are they democracies in spirit?
If they have any country directly telling, 'your actions are correct', then VP is becoming a some sort of leader.
He is a leader whether someone tells him that he is a leader or not. He has understood the SL political system better than many mainstream politicians, formed LTTE from scratch and lead it for 30 years.
Has he been a dictator? Yes he has and that too because of his understanding of SL politics and Tamil politicians before him. To be honest past Tamil politicians too had sold the population for personal gain but under the current system it is difficult but not impossible as Douglashora and Anandanayake has shown.
If there is some form of settlement will VP lead? I think not. If he thinks Tamils have got a reasonable settlement he will retire and might me a ceremonial figure.

It is good to see this type of caring done by SLDF
Staff Sergeant R.W. Dharmasena of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment recently volunteered to save a life of a pregnant mother by donating his blood to Point Pedro hospital, Jaffna. Responding to a SOS message published on the Tamil daily 'Udyan' on 10th March , requesting to donate rare O negative blood , Sergeant Dharmasena attached to 51 division has volunteered to save the life of the mother and the unborn child.
Defence.lk special correspondent reporting from Jaffna said that the family of the pregnant mother have expressed their heart felt gratitude to the soldier as no other donator had responded to their request. Reporter further said that this is an excellent example for the cordial relationship that exists between security forces and civilians in Jaffna peninsula. Despite the LTTE propaganda campaigns to show the world that there exists an ethnic rift in the country, increasing civilian support for the security forces shows nothing other than their want uproot terrorism from their homeland, he added.

The end result is always depending on the initial system.
I dont say present GOSL is 100% perfect, it has many weakness, mainly came into actions for controlling LTTE activities.
But, still, it has to face the IC and law of the country.
It has to answer in the parliament.
It must maintain all diplomatic relations with other countries.
Other political parties are conducting protests, even thugs are active.
In the worst case, if people come to streets, government has to give the way.
Non of these are applicable for ruthless admin of VP. He is still the dictator, and now its clear at least few 10,000s Tamils in east are clearly against LTTE (even if we remove by-force votes).
Thats why I sad the end result is depending on the initial system. If LTTE has a political struggle, it can achieve more with the IC help, than this. Still GOSL enjoy some level of IC help, to serve people.

for most of the Lankans both Gosl/LTTE have the Same system...Dictatorship if you want me to speak your language..
U need to come up with something else..
The Govt can't solve a simple issue of Rupavahini..instead of punishing the man behind this attack..they are punishing the Victims..is that sound very similar to your view on VP..it is ah..!! |
