Sadly, one unfortunate thing in Sri Lankan youth is, they believe if they have basic education the government or the private sector are bound to give them jobs.
They don't want to learn English, IT or anything that shapes up their skills, but waiting for the jobs to come to their hands
Sorry to say that most of expats forget how they gone to another country and never go back.. If there is so much oppertunities why most of in LNP living outside the country.I'm talking about Sinhalese. Because Tamils has a point why they live in a foreign land..
I was wondering if anyone looking for a babysitter.. I seen some Sri Lankans bring their relative to USA to take care of their kids.. I don't know which part of USA you live. Hope you know that half million illegal immigrants live and work in New York City.. I work with few Philliphines who came to this country as illegal and then they lift their head.
Do you know that last year the Sri Lankan who came under a American NGO never went back home.. They hide in New York and these people have jobs in SL...
For a young kid it is not easy to live..that's true. How about asking your Mervin uncle to find a job for him..:):) |

Oh Kanks,
I am really in USA, I know how it is,.. and I know how hard a person without proper qualification to come here unless hehas the green card lottery,..
Recently, after the Tsunami, one of my cousins ( who had his A/l's, own a grocery store in the heart of Galle with over Rs.100,000 daily business wanted to come over here for a job. He didn't have any professional qualifications other than knowing how to handle a good business singlehanded.
I told him that he can't come here without a job guaranteed.
First rule in hiring international people is Is he competent enough to deliver his duty than the Americans ?
Then the next is, is he qualified than the Americans ?
If both of these situations are fulfilled, then the next is, is he worth enough to grant Visa/green card or anything else ?
But, If someone can sponsor him, he might get a chance, but he has to go through an extensive Visa interview. If he fails that, that's the end. If he is capable of convincing the Visa officer, he will get Visa, (Under what category ? I don't know. All I know is F for students, J for exchange students, H work visa for professionals, A for diplomats.)
All I know is, it's hard, but not impossible with a HUGE RISK....
I would say, OK, go for it,... and experience by yourself,...

Do agree. Now I don't have to explain to Mr. Ekanayaka. He can read the post.. BTW the kid is looking for any country. Not just USA..
I can't do anything since I'm waiting to move also.. BTW A1 visa is for immediate relative of USA.
Thanks a lot for the explanation.. |

That is a good move . Don't sell now. Eventually market will bounce back. . If you sell now you'll loose money.
Quite bit..It is buyers market not sellers market :(:( |

There must be colleges in Lanka teaching plumbing, welding and electrician, if he can he should study one those courses, then try to immigrate, he will find it easy that way.
Australia and Middle East are the best options.
I think in 2006/2007 nearly 350,000 people have emigrated from UK to Australia, US, canada,Spain and other countries, at the same time 500,000 from EU and other countries immigrated into UK.
Sounds crazy!
