A Paper by the Asian Human Rights Commission

PATRIOT:

Who are the people writing about Sinhala people ?

Are they all tamils ?

Why don't they talk about what tamils do to Sinhala people. Tamils have forgotten that Sinhala people allowed tamils to settle in sri Lanka.

Since early 1900, Tamils were talking about how brilliant they were and how great they were.

Yes we are brilliant and look superior too but that has nothing to do with race. Its because we work hard and are not lazy like the Sinhalese who think that Govt and the world owes them. To satisfy this stupidity the GOVT brought is laws that screwed the whole country.

This is not limited to SL. Same thing in Zimbabwe. The locals are lazy but what was the govt solution take over the property of the white folks and give it to locals. I don't have to spell the results.

This is pathetic that the GOSL pretends to know nothing. How can people live in Sri Lanka when this is the reality and the Govt authorities pretend unaware of these things.

Anurasiri Hettige, an employee of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation
SLRC
was asssulated by an unknown thugs using an iron rod this morning. The victim was admitted to the Colombo National hospital.

Our sources said the Special Task Force (STF) has been deployed to Rupavahini to provide security as some staff members boycotted work in protest over the continuing assault on employees of the state television.

Meanwhile, employees of the Rupavahini Corporation have stopped all live programmes with immediate effect, till President Mahinda Rajapaksa intervenes and gives an assurance that spree

Bullet proof democracy.

Part of the problem is that Mr. Rajapakse isn't necessarily willing to address the legitimate grievances of Tamils.

But, after smuggling Karuna into britain on forged passport, he is spending newly printed currency notes to bribe Pillaiyan, Devananda, ananthasangree and Rajasingam.

He re-armed the paramilitaries to ensure only those who are bribed and allied to him can contest elections. The electorates have no choice but vote for those who are allowed to carry guns. This is called bullet-proof democracy.

I have no confidence and trust that I will get justice from the government of Sri Lanka. There are several reasons for this. The minister who spoke to me said you are trying to approach international human rights organisations and create an issue and trying to tarnish the name of the country. Even this commission could be dissolved before the proceedings come to a proper conclusion, he said.

A government minister however said while security was offered to the family of the victim at no instance was there an attempt to pressurize the victim into being silence over the incident. He asserted that the government was keen to ensure the witnesses came out and gave evidence without fear.

Dr. Manoharan also said he believed the incident was pre-planned because a family friend working for a state bank in Trincomalee had come and warned his wife at about 6.30 p.m. saying she had heard rumours that an incident was to take place.

He also saida trusted Police officer had told him that an hour before the incident, a Police sergeant (who is retried now) had been ordered to go back to the barracks by a high official in the Police saying there was an issue in the beach front.

He also said at least 13 STF personnel who were arrested in connection with the incident were subsequently released.

The five students were killed on January 2, 2006. Initially the police and the government claimed that the students were in-fact LTTE cadres killed in a premature detonation of a grenade that they were about throw towards government troops.

The government claims were contradicted by the post mortem reports, which stated that the deaths were caused by gun shot wound in execution style.

The University Teachers for Human Rights (UTHR) accused a local police superintendent as the mastermind of the operation behind the killings.

The only witness who came forward was Dr. Manoharan who later claimed he was threatened by some elements of the Sri Lankan security forces.

According to RSF a journalist who took pictures of the slain students proved that they died of gun shot injuries and not by an explosion of a grenade as claimed by local military authorities was shot dead by unknown gun men suspected to be paramilitary men.
