Associated Press, Fri March 14, 2008 12:14 EDT . - - COLOMBO, Sri Lanka - (AP) Sri Lanka - summoned the U.S. ambassador on Friday to protest the latest U.S. State Department report on human rights, saying it presented a distorted and exaggerated view of the situation on the Indian Ocean island.
The U.S. Embassy said the U.S. government stands by the report. ''Our goal ... is always to be fair and objective,'' it said in a statement.
