U guys fail to understand MR's cunning thinking..
Remember a few weeks ago he said he will never go abroad with the Begging bowl..He wants the Arab countries to come to him and fill his bowl by begging and accepting the increase in Minimum wages..Once that is done and his bowl is filled..he will announce that our helpers can go to ME again.. |

as the war dont seems ending and with fresh recruits of 30,000 only covers dead and injured there is a need of hundreds of thousands army.
last month alone srilankan government declared in parliment nearly 1000 army got killed or seriously injured ( almost as injured as dead) But analyst believe it maybe 10 times that got injured and dead.
as ponseka reported to have told he need hundreds of thousands army. and sinhalese youths are not joining the army , mahinda tried every trick in the book including bus bomb in sinhala village and sent wimal weerawansa to make hatered speeches and lured young guys to join army.
and have free ticket exibition showing guns and planes and machinary they have and what they captured from tigers, but the exibition backedfire mahinda , most people visited the exibition was impressed the way tigers wepons are homemade. and the boats we pay millions and they make their own with few thousands rupee and worse when tigers capture navy boats they dont take it for their own use they just sunk it in the sea because its not a worthy good to take there.
having faced all that mahinda reported to have held discusion with employment agency how can we get more people to join army.
they believed to have suggested put a ban on exportingt maids.
direct them to training camp.
so in the comming months there will be fresh recruitment drive to get more womens in army.
also they adviced average middleeast worker get Rs 10,000 a month and nurse get Rs 120,000 so we train more nurses and send them aboad and get the same foreign exchange.

Berty/Dr Jones,
No i do not think Arabs are that desperate, they might have access to another cheap labour some where in this world.
I do not think this type of job are helping them or their family in big way either. But the country as a whole it's a gain in term of foreign currency.
But.. This is not empowerment.
I have traveled with a load of maids on their way back to SL (from Abu Dhabi to CMB). Most of them have painted a sad picture, very worn out faces,.. etc. They packed what they have collected in cardboard boxes or very old worn out bags. I felt really sorry for them.
Their agony even continue when they landed in CMB Airport.
Ah.. another load of house maids are coming...?
You know our fellow....
I believe they are better off with their dignity intact.
Don't you? There must be another way to empower these women.
Finally, I am not defending MR here OK:-)

This guy is totally crazy..
If they stop sending this poor ladies to earn for their living..Who will feed them?
This 'Modaya' is expecting them to beg like monks??
What will happen to their dependents?
Rajapaksa's corrupted regime is making the poor people's life miserable and trying to kill them without food..
This 'Madayan'have nothing inside his head..
Before talking something this idi.t must make some alternate arrangement for the people to live..
Sri Lanka become a 'Moda'Kingdom..

This is a good timely decision. We should not send our people to do slavery work to Arabians who treat our people like slaves. There is a very good demand for health workers, nurses, paramedics, skilled workers like electricians, carpenters, plumbers in Europe and North American countries. These countries treat thier employees respectfully.
Sri lanka must open private medical colleges, nursing schools and schools for other trades. Our education system is well accepted by most of foriegn countries.
Most of tamils who migrated as refugees are doing better in these countries and therefore if GOSL provides facilities by allowing private colleges to operate in SL our people have better opportunities. JVP may not allow this to happend. |

This is excellent work.
This should have been stopped effective immediately.
DEvloped Countries need skilled labour in thousands.
If respective SL foreign offices in those countries are inquisitive, SL can send many more skilled people than this.
North America has a hugh need for Health care professional. That is a good market to handle.

This is excellent work.
This is stupid. Most of these women make a personal sacrifice to support their families. This idiot who has looted the country and does not have to worry for a few generations is preventing that without providing an alternative.
What has he done to make the economy better so people will not have to leave for low paying jobs?
True there is a shortage for health care professionals but do we have facilities in place to train enough in a short period of time. Philippines and India are way ahead of us, their language and social skills are better too. So its easy said than done.
