Sinthaka,
You have again avoided answering my questions!
You continuously avoid mentioning the aggressive militarization of LTTE during CFA, while only accusing Govt of not demilitarizing it self.
I am a fool if deny that LTTE did not enhance their military however, if there strength was that much enhanced, GOSL would not have captured the East with much ease! Rather you should say that, both sides were not genuine in peace building.
May I remind you that RW virtually confined the Army to its barracks, and allowed LTTE'ers to roam freely wherever they like. Is this not demilitarization to the very core?
During the CFA time, did you get a chance to go to any conflict areas? I did, and I can tell you that many schools, temples, and public building were still being occupied by the army. Every street corner was manned by armed personnel. If you say that confined to barracks, surely, you cannot call properties around street corners as barracks!
Why did LTTE become miitary strong during CFA in the first place?
Is it not because Govt 'demilitarized' it self and turned a blind eye to LTTE's Blatant Militarization?
If they did in the true sense of the word, they would still be in the east! You are still focussing on LTTE than a political structure and constitution!
This is the fundamental failure in CFA. The Govt Demilitarized it self, while LTTE Militarized it self to be the most sophisticated terror group in the World! The imbalance was staggering.
Sinthanka, just before the CFA, LTTE overrun elephant Pass and attacked the Air port. I think that, they were strong enough already. This is why, despite all hypes, LTTE is still holding the army at bay. They are an experienced unit with battle hardened leadership and endless self-funding on top of what they get from the diasporas. Again, I say it to you, the only way to weaken LTTE in a true sense of the word is to remove their support base. This can only be done by formulating a credible political package. Anything else would amount to attempt of subjugation!
How come people have selective amnesia about what LTTE did during CFA? There are two sides to every coin!
Exactly, you can say that again!
You cannot practically except the Govt to close shop, completely demilitarize it self, say Ta Ta and go away, while LTTE continuously armed it self to its teeth? Please give me a break!
I did not see these in the CFA, please be true to yourself.
As for this Sinhala Buddhist thing, its nonsense.
Buddhism is ingrained in the culture of Sri Lanka, and its not easy to separate it from the state.
It is an interesting statement. This is why you, though come across as intelligent, cannot come to terms with the reality that, Sri Lanka is a multi-racial society and promoting the interest of one group would have far-reaching consequences the evidences are there for you to see!
You can blame the LTTE, you can accuse the Tamils, you can loathe the IC, you can do many things, but if you do not recognise the evil nature of the Sinhala Buddhist Chauvinism, you have not understood the core issues of the conflict!
