Where have you been man? Anyone living in SL knows that VP is the most influential person in the island... he is the kingpin who decided the last few governments in Sri Lanka.. VP dominates the Tamil Nadu landscape... as TN is a major player in Indian central govt, VP's infuence extends to even to the very top of Indian government...

I'm sure it's VPs influance that India extended a 'State welcome' to Sri Lanka Army Chief Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka I suppose.. *wink*

VP had power prior to 2004.
How he got power? Not by democratic means.
JVP also had some power in late 80s. So did Hitler. The power achieved by the gun is always going to be short-lived .
There are many examples in the history.
LTTE is a dying outfit. I can't see LTTE surviving another 10 years.

Look, India is not foolish... this guy is offering big money to Indian companies for arms... they would definitely have to please him as much as they can...!

I can't see LTTE survive another 10 years.
I think they will survive, if they can flexible with the needs of IC and general mass of SL. |

GOSL tactic of divide and rule by using TMVP is not a new phenomenon
GOSL used the Muslim homeguards in the late 1980s to cause divisions among Tamils and Muslims, and this had some unfortunate and terrible consequences for both communities
A measure put into force in April 1984 was to foment clashes between the Tamils and Muslims in the East. In Amparai and Batticaloa Districts this was achieved by getting Muslim hoodlums of Minister M.H. Mohamed down from Colombo to attack some Tamil villages adjoining Muslim villages with backing from the newly inducted Special Task Force (Arrogance of Power p.328 ff). In Mutur such attempts were thwarted by the timely action of A.L.A. Majeed MP

right! and India is saying they wont sell weapons to SL also right? I mean 'cos of VP's influance :)
