Government deployed about 9,700 security force (police, SLA, STF, and SLAF) to keep the election violence free. Compare to the history of the area, its good to see a no violence election.

sansare,

In Moneragala district, where I don't know how many thousands of SLDF are stationed, not to mention the civilian defence forces, claymores are still going off..! But, look at the east..! As quiet as you would like..! Knowing these tigers, I'm suspicious..! :P

What is wrong with these eelamists? dont they want to vote?

Of course when was the last time the wanni DID vote? no one's concerned about that. letting a fat pig rob the daily lives of innocent civilians. Down South 'sinhala' government may be equally rubbish for some, but at least they HAVE the right to vote and change government. Can Wannians do that?

TNA is backed by LTTE.

TMVP is backed by Paramilitary TMVP unit.

Whats the difference. North it was always TNA who were allowed to campaign under LTTE protection

Now we have a second one TMVP .

TNA should stop crying.

East ELAM is in the drain he he

And they are crying of TMVP guns and talking of the threat to voting because of these guns. But about LTTE guns? no one talks of the threat to much important peace talks because of LTTE guns.

Genius!

GOSL have killed over 12,000 Tamil civilians in Batti (not including Ampara), but TMVP and Pillaiyan say past is past

What a wonderful world, if we all thought like this, India and Sri Lanka would still be part of the British Empire, and British empire and France would be under Nazi rule :)

Satan,

Monaragala, LTTE is active in mainly within forests.
As you think, if there is any relation between LTTE and TMVP, I think its a good development.

May be LTTE is testing some hypothesis there.
They need a good reason to go for talks..!

I off now.

People in the east haven't seen a polling station or ballot box for last 14 years.

I heard some people cried after casting their votes. even they took their children to polling stations to show them what's an election and how to vote.

some women had asked to color all the fingers instead of one and election authorities had to send extra markers.

LTTE child soldiers too came in school unform to observe the election.

this is an unforgettable event for them.
