HOW TO AVOID THE CEYLON ELECTRICITY BOARD PRICE HIKE

Tuesday, 4 March 2008 - 2:20 PM SL Time

The proposed electricity price hike is targeting the people using
more than 600 units and less than 1,000 units of electricity as the
people who waste electricity. This category is going to be charged Rs. 53/- per unit, where as Five Star Hotels pay Rs. 12/15. Others classed as General Purpose Category pay Rs.24/- per unit. The minimum bill if you consume over 601 units is Rs.31,853 (53*601) more than Rs.1,000/- a day for electricity.

Others using over 360 units and less that 601 units will pay Rs.
36/- per unit. The minimum bill if you consume over 360 units is Rs.13,014(3615*360) more than Rs.434/- a day for electricity.
The whole equation of this proposed power increase is for these two
categories not for Industries, Hotels, Shops or others not classed as Domestic Consumers. One way of avoiding this increase is to get your house classed as a Hotel or General Purpose Category Consumer.
For this, you should all go to the Electricity Board and ask for the
method to convert your house to anything other than Domestic User.
Maybe it is worth converting your house to a Hotel and charging your
inmates a small daily room rate to occupy the rooms, you will save close to Rs. 250,000/- a year depending on how many units you consume.

Maybe it is worth fixing a Solar Power Unit just to lower your rate below 600 units if you are above 600 units and below 360 units if they are above 360 units. If you are over 600 units and get your bill below 600 units you save a minimum Rs. 10,120.84 ( (52.99 - 36.15 ) * 601 )If you are over 360 units and get your bill below 360 units you save a minimum Rs. 5,108.40 ((36.15 - 21.85 ) * 360) If you live next to a Hotel just pay them double their rate and buy electricity from them. Call your Member of Parliament and let him know that at the coming election you will vote with your electricity bill for him and the opposition with your ballot. Don`t forget to call the JHU and JVP as they seem to have more clout in this government.

Get rid of your Deep freezer, buy provisions daily, let the Supermarket pay for the Freezing. At a minimum of Rs. 31,853/- (53 * 601) you pay for you electricity if you use over 601 units, that works out to more that Rs.1000/- per day only for electricity. Can you afford to buy things to put in the freezer.Rs 3.50 bread was the first slogan of this government not so long ago, next election we should ask for Rs. 35/- per unit of Electricity.Sleep early get up late so you would not have to switch on the lights. Get to the work places to start work late and close early. The whole family
should sleep in one room, then only one fan is necessary.

Do not Iron your cloths, other than the ones you wear to work, let us get the fashion designers make it the next fashion, non ironed cloths, wow!the natural look.Do not watch the news, only more depressing price hikes, do not watch the political debates more humbugs your way, get the TV Stations to summarize all the teledramas which drag the stories for nor reason, the you can

News of 26/2/2008 have proposed to increase the price of unit for domestic users using over 601 units to Rs. 54.40 from the CEB proposed rate of 53/-.May I humbly request all the readers to read this ancient curse on them `May the flees of a thousand Camels infest your A## hole and May your arms be too short to scratch it` Better than me going on about it let us get the readers to send their brilliant ideas, How to avoid the electricity price hike
