An A-321 that had been leased to Mihin Air had been taken away by its Turkish owner, the Best Air, on February 14th, reports say.
Registered under no: IC-TVB in Turkey, the aircraft was given on lease to Mihin Air on March 26, 2007.
Last month, it made an emergency landing in Mumbai following a technical glitch.
After repairs, it was brought to Colombo a few days later.
Now, the owner has taken the A-321 away due to Mihin Air s failure to fulfill its financial obligations under the leasing agreement.
Meanwhile, an A-320 registered in Bulgaria under LZ-BHB, leased by the local budget airline, will also be taken away by its owner in April, reports say.
A similar attempt earlier was prevented by paying part of the dues in installments, reports say.
Mihin Air presently conducts its charters only with this A-320, but has restricted its flights only to India and the Maldives due to the severe financial setbacks the airline is facing.

It was just a matter of time before this happened ,this is what happens when you start a airline as if you are staring a bus service , lol , no planing , no structure , and just a pure waste of public money, being someone in the industry and knowing the the exact aircrafts that mihin is using, i would strongly recommend people not to fly with them, why waste time and money for a lost cause , when you have sri lankan airlines, which is already established, if the effort is channeled towords that ,that can be a great help after the emirates contract is over in April.

Starting an International Airline is no joke....understand the men behind the wheels, I mean the CEO and others have no clue in Managing an Airline, before they get into more serious trouble some changes in direction has to be made by the Government....may be change of CEO & others with Airline Experience personnel.....The concept of Budget Airline is a good idea, but their ambitious plans of flying into many countries without concentrating on a few destinations(e.g Middle east to look after labour traffic and points in India) is the problem.

See the SUPERIOR Economic policies of the PUNNAKKU raja and Dr (double Phd in economics and the founder of the UNPLUGGING theory) - wimal WeeraMONKEY!! :):).
Next item in the agenda is to kick out Emirates (who know nothing about running an airline) and give it to Brilliant Managers who SWOLLOW buckets full of PUNNAKKU and lick the BUffalo BEHIND - Sri Rohana Sajin Vass Gune...! :) :)
When some of us warned about things like this - we were branded as TRAITORS and LTTE supporters!! Stay tuned - A Lot more PUNNAKKU is on its way!!!

What a shame on the inititiators of this project!! But they dont lose anything from this vecture. Those responsible and people who accumulated wealth through this should be made to pay back and made an example of.

It would only have surprised me if Mihin Air survived more than a year. Right from the word 'Go', its writing was on the wall as it was the ridiculously incompetent current SL government that was backing it. Govt seemed to believe it can run an airline the same way it is running the administration, i.e.: by deceit, lies, fraud and thuggery.
The current govt is so incompetent and corrupt it cannot run a 10x10 fish stall without corruption and eventualy making it bankrupt.
Since 'Doctor' Mervin is looking for a new job these days, why don't we send him packing to the offices of these foreign bullies who took away our precious airline? He surely knows how to negotiate! Not only will he get it back, he also can rename it after his great ancestor, i.e.: 'Gemunu Air'.
