Sri Lankan soldiers captured a line of strategic rebel bunkers after a battle Monday that killed 10 rebels and one soldier, the military said.
Backed by mortar and artillery fire, army troops captured a 650-yard line of bunkers in northern Mannar district following a two-hour battle that also injured four soldiers, said Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara, the military`s spokesman.

Though small, the stretch will help the military in its push to take rebel-held territories in Mannar district, Nanayakkara said.

Rebel spokesman Rasiah Ilanthirayan did not answer calls seeking comment.

By the way apparently VP's photographer/VOT technician too has died. He was Lt. Col. Lankaenews says so.

I have reservations over this site, but if true....it contradicts sundayleader's dumb bomb idea.

Well done SLAF!!

Aney, from 23 September 2007, same story. Very boring!
Today, no news about air raid on rebel bases? In Vanni, everywhere bases, coordinating centers, communication centers, leaders gathering points..

Better than sending few Tamil boys/girls to die almost daily, LTTE must look for decent negotiated settlement.

We are writing this same thing again and again, but its the best to save many young Sri Lankans.

I read a letter wrote by Tamil boy from the battle-field, true or not, its so sad to see the bitter life that these boys/girls are facing.

With least supply and eminent death, what kind of gift LTTE is offering to there people..?

Perhaps this team took the Madu bomb victims video. They were not attending to the severely injured kids, but gave the priority to take the hot-view of the incident at that time.
