The political 'perspective' is falling into place .. coming into accord with the military program. The 'wishy-washy' .. ' do we go for 'federalism', or something similar by another name ?' frame of mind has given way to a definitive position being taken. Good to see the Prez coming to a frm decision on this subject .. and having it uttered thro' the 'Chief Negotiator'. |

NEW DELHI, Feb. 10 (APP): Sri Lankan Navy killed an Indian fisherman on Saturday night when they opened fire on a fishing boat at Palk Strait.
According to details, a fishing boat with Tamil Nadu fishermen went to sea off Dhanushkodi coast. When it reached near maritime border with Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan naval security personnel intercepted it and opened fire on them, media reports quoting Indian officials said.
As a result of firing, Thangapandi, a 35-year old fisherman died on the spot while others fled from the scene.
Meanwhile, M Karunanidhi, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu state has said he will take up the issue with the Centre, a press release issued in Chennai on Sunday said.

Feb 10, Colombo: United States Department of State updated its travel warning on Sri Lanka alerting the American citizens traveling to or living in Sri Lanka about the continuing danger of terrorist attacks throughout the country.
The updated warning urged the Americans to carefully evaluate the risks of travel to Sri Lanka and specifically warned against traveling to northern and eastern areas.
It warned the Americans to avoid large crowds and public gatherings and particularly political rallies, military bases, and government and military vehicle convoys, which are frequent targets of LTTE attacks.
