Many foreign investors are attracted to Sri Lanka because of the relative ease in setting up enterprises in the country. A Japanese enterprise FDK Lanka at the BOI Katunayake Export Processing Zone manufactures advanced electronic components. Sri Lankan workers can easily be trained to perform complex work processes.

It is good to have such type of industry in the country.... the credit goes mainly to RPremadasa who did a lot in promoting this industry all over the island.....but after 1994-1995 it started to go down... only few of such well-established factories could survive till today....
Hope MR & Junta do something to promote such industry in slankan .... instead of booking their revenue of 10% from them and drag them down day by day....
Plus.....those workpower should get enough salary increment ... taking the rising CoL into the consideration...... there are thousands of girls stopped going to work at these factories as their salaries are not even enough to cover their accommodation, transportation, meals and daily expenses....so, what is the point of working.... |

| It is more correct to say that foreign investors were attracted to Slanka until SLFP/JVP junta came to power in 1993 and ruined everything since.
During the past 15 years, more than 100 factories were closed and relocated in other countries due to political instability and red tapes.
Slanks has become one of 'most difficult to set up business' countries. |

there are lot of reasons behind it...... remarkable one is demanding imaganary commission percentage from inverstors (that is in addition to all other taxes and fees they have to comply with)... they run away faster than they come into slanka to invest..... |

Just wait till Tamil Eelam start setting up the development zones!
Any company interested in India will naturally move to Tamil Eelam because Tamil is spoken widely in India... nobody in India speaks Sinhalese!
