KILINOCHCHI: ONE of the most central intersection of the A-9 and the well-known strategic township, PARANTHAN, about 4.5 km north of KILINOCHCHI, was blocked by the Army from north of A-9 Wednesday (31) evening, shattering even final bits of the Eelam Dream of the LTTE terrorists

Very nice work indeed by our brave army chaps. Now it's time to start pounding Elephant Pass with some nice salvos of RM-70s. Then follow up with some FAEs and you can stick a fork in EP to see if it's done.
Cheers!

Paranthan fell to troops today following a surprising pre-dawn strike led by 2 Commando, 10GR etc. troops of the 58 Division. By this evening, the entire area was cleared.
Several successive waves of attackers, led by LTTE's Kilinochchi Military in-charge Velavan was beaten back. The open terrain and Villu that lay between troops and the well defended LTTE fortifications were suddenly crossed in the darkness of the morning.

With Paranthan in SLA hand they have multiple options to dismantle terrorist goons piecemeal. Paranthan is strategically more important than Killinochhci. Now SLA has access to East coast, Elephant Pass or Killinochchi.
Cheers!

Bye Bye Paranthan and 8 ex-imran Pandyan.
Since LTTE hyenas wanted to be kissed, there.. paranthan was finally kissed. Now, be patient. SLA will kiss killi too. Edited By - Dewey - 31 Dec 2008 18:20:34 GMT |

Imran-Pandiyan is regarded as one of the most powerful fighting formations within the LTTE. This unit, along with Charles Anthony brigade, has not been used in any major battle since the 2002 CFA. The tigers seem to be keeping their two most experienced brigades in reserve. LTTE is most likely to use these brigades to defend Wanni from a possible army invasion but the possibility of these units being deployed in a major LTTE offensive to recapture Jaffna peninsula cannot be overruled either
BTW.. Congratulations to the 8 I-P Brigade cadres on their Promotions in rank ! Edited By - gonnamba - 31 Dec 2008 18:25:02 GMT |
