Paranthan fell to troops today following a surprising pre-dawn strike led by 2 Commando, 10GR etc. troops of the 58 Division. By this evening, the entire area was cleared. -DW- 21:00 hour Sri Lanka time.

Statistics are produced in Sri Lanka by orders from above. It can be the battlefield casualties, unemployment figures, price index or GDP it can be adjusted for the satisfaction.
'APRC', so called because of an order, met 68 times and majority, minority and Chairman's reports were produced from time to time. But after 68 sittings lasting 18 months the order came from above to look into the history museum for an accord signed 20 years back by the governments of India and Sri Lanka called 13th Amendment. The chairman knelt down before the president and presented it as if the 'APRC' produced by considering the proposals contributed by the political parties of the Sinhalese (ALL parties). The president hailed it as an achievement of the APRC and showed to the world and to the East. What an achievement to dig out something produced 20 years back after 68 sittings by the cream of the party leaders from the South of Sri Lanka. |
