In case I missed some of you, this is my New Year Message from the morning. Good luck guys. I hope I made a small difference here. I have to go now.

Happy New Year to Everyone in LNP! May the New Year Bring the Much Coveted Peace to Our Land!

I would like to wish New Year especially to Berty Anna, Bassa Aiya, AndyPrem, Gonnamba, Gaja Acca, AnuD Aiya, Kural, Thalaivar, and Pawan98.

I enjoyed the dialogue, both as Yarlan and as 'someone else.' LOL here. Just remember one thing: wars can be easily won and lost. But, changing someone's mind is much harder. In Sri Lanka, what we have is really a war of ideas and a battle between two different mind sets whose perceptions of the past, present and future are in conflict. You can't change some one's mind so easily. That is the challenge we will face in the New Year.

Nothing to proud about, but can be a bit reliefed.

Sri Lanka's inflation rate declines to an 18-month low

Dec 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka's annual inflation fell to an 18-month low of 14.4 percent in December from a record high of 28.2 in June, data released by the Department of Census and Statistics today showed.

Consumer prices rose since June 2007 from 13.5 percent to a record high of 28.2 in June this year. The rate fell to a 16.3 percent in November, the statistics revealed.

LTTE unceasing waves beaten.

Paranthan fell to troops today following a surprising pre-dawn strike led by 2 Commando, 10GR etc. troops of the 58 Division. By this evening, the entire area was cleared.

Several successive waves of attackers, led by LTTE's Kilinochchi Military in-charge Velavan was beaten back. The open terrain and Villu that lay between troops and the well defended LTTE fortifications were suddenly crossed in the darkness of the morning.

The last attack came this evening. 8 bodies of Tigers were recovered. The attackers were mainly from the Imran Pandian unit, which is led by Velavan.

With this latest defeat, Muhamalai will become untenable for the LTTE. Troops now have the opportunity to attack Kilinochchi from the north and the northeast. That town too is expected to fall in January.
