Bhanu delivered the keynote speech at a ceremony held to award certificates of commendation to tiger cadres who had distinguished themselves on the battlefront in fighting in Mannar district.
The certificates prepared by the military analysis division of the LTTE were signed by the LTTE leader.
Prabhakaran however left the venue shortly after Bhanu s speech due to security reasons
The certificates were then distributed to tiger cadre recipients by Bhanu, northen military commandr Theepan, senior tiger leader Yogi and Thamilanban
Bhanu in his address admitted openly that the armed forces had encircled the LTTE in many places and scored significant victories.
The LTTE had lost much of its territory, Bhanu said.
However with the dawning of the new year 2009 the situation would be reversed.
Not only would we inflict heavy losses to the army but we will win back lost territory', proclaimed Bhanu in the presence of Prabhakaran.
He said the President s year of triumph proclamation would be transformed into year of destruction on the battlefield. |

Air raids target LTTE positions in Paranthan, Kilinochchi
A minor explosion was reported a short while ago in Rathmalana area today (29th). It appears that an electric transformer was the target of the explosion. The transformer itself was undamaged in the incident. There were no casualties and no arrests have been made so far.
Meanwhile in the northern front, Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) flew 5 bombing sorties on LTTE targets in Paranthan and Kilinochchi. The air sorties were made as ground troops inching closer to Paranthan continued to face heavy resistance from LTTE cadres. Two of the sorties were flown in the morning, two in the afternoon and then another one in the evening. Exact LTTE casualties in these aerial raids are not available as of now. Despite LTTE resistance, SLA units have now advanced up to 2.5km from Paranthan junction.
Meanwhile the LTTE has handed over 17 bodies of SLA soldiers fallen in Mullaithiv battles today. Around 30 soldiers from the army s 59 division were killed in fierce fighting at location 5-6km south of Mullaithiv town on the 27th.
In other news around 250 Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel passed out after completing training today. The passing out parade was held at Katukurunda STF training base.

they is a serious neglect of security of senior leaders of ltte by getting together in the same place. they should avoid this type of functions where all senior leaders attend. if ant tip off goes to MI then all senior leaders lives are at danger. |
