.is it a spritual visit to ratnapura or just visiting family there!!
I have a relative there whose last days are a spiritual journey for me. I make the time during every holiday season to go see her. I wish I will be like her when I hit 85. Firing on all cylinders and ready to go. |

The Tamil Nadu Police 'Q Branch' - which deals with insurgent groups - took into custody Amir Antony Paranthaman, 32, in Chennai Saturday night, leading to the seizure of satellite telephones and global positioning systems (GPS) sent from Switzerland.
The goods were meant for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which is in desperate need of war material as it battles the steadily advancing military in its lair in Sri Lanka's north.

you get this everywhere, In Sri Lanka the Eastern Tamil people say Jaffna tamil people are liars and like to rip people off. Jaffna tamils say they have more ancient tamil blood than eastern tamil people, etc. Both look down on Estate tamils.
This is exactly the attitude of Eastern Tamils..not true but there will be isolated cases
U can actually compare the above statement about Eastern/Jaffna Tamils to Tamils/Sinhalese discrimination in SL. it is in Tamils attitude to feel that way but there are isolated cases..

Tamil trader abducted in Colombo
TamilNet, Tuesday, 30 December 2008, 02:24 GMT
A 62-year-old Tamil trader was abducted by unidentified persons Monday when the trader was returning to his shop in Pettah from his residence located in Dias Place in Colombo after lunch, according to complaints lodged with the Vaalaiththoddam Police by his relatives.
The victim was identifeid as Kandiah Senthilnathan.
The police spokesman Ranjit Gunasekara said that the police had commenced inquiry into the abduction.
Police said the abductors had demanded 2.5 million rupees from Senthilnathan, and abducted him when he refused to pay the demanded sum.

That is great of u..I did that every year going down to SL for my dad's birthday for the last 6 years before he passed away this Jan just before his birthday in feb..
he used to be excited and wil plan a party by dec knowing i will be there..but last dec mum said he never spoke about it.May be he knew it..I am so happy that I was able to do that..
I always tell all who live abroad who have their parents in SL to visit them every year and spend some time with them..sometimes our parents don't show it but once we have our own kids we know how they would have felt missing their kids..
