Sri Lanka Navy destroyed a suspected LTTE ship carrying arms was along with another four small LTTE vessels in the sea off the Mullaitivu coast in the pre-dawn hours of today, the military said.

The Navy said its Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) on surveillance mission in the deep seas detected the approximately 30 - 40 meters long medium-sized LTTE logistics vessel 70 nautical miles north-east of Mullaitivu around 1:30 a.m. today.

Upon detection the Navy has deployed patrol craft to intercept the logistics vessel and destroy it. The ensued firefight lasted about 30 minutes, the naval officials said.

Naval sources said they suspect the ship was carrying a large quantity of weapon materials as it sank in a fire ball.

The Navy has also intercepted a cluster of fleeing LTTE boats which were attempting to provide support to the logistics vessel and destroyed four enemy attack craft in a separate confrontation off the coast of Mullaitivu.

Our only homeland's security forces have sunk most enimy ships since world war 2, some of them as far as 3000 nautical miles from our shores ! Had we done this 25 years ago the present problem would not exist. Better late than never. Other wise that would be the end of us and our only homeland. Dutu Gamunu, Parakrama Bahu, Vijaya Bahu and others (at times with Indian and Tamil help) made sure we lived to tell the tale (today). Thus it is our herritage and duty to carry on this tradition for survival. We dont claim Tamil Nadu nor have we exercised genocide in that land. We have welcomed, married and associated Tamils throughout history, however there are no Sinhala settlements/acceptance in TN (real Tamil homeland). Wheres the justice ! ? !
Tamil 90 million : Sinhala 12 million. From Rama to Ellalas, Raja adi rajas to Madras seapoys, the historical genocide of Lankans runs to many millions! In fact Sri Lanka has become a heaven not only for the great majority of Tamils but for many ex-Tamil-tigers too !!

Sri Lanka Navy sinks suspected LTTE arms ship

10-12 were sent to the depths within two weeks sometime ago. Now this one after almost an year, so now the LTTE has absolutely no means of getting weapons from overseas is it? If not how many more to go before it's a full stop?
