Battlefield reports on yesterday's (Dec 20) counter terrorist operations in Kilinochchi indicate pitched battles between Army and the LTTE terrorists.
Troops of the Army 57 Division successfully thwarted an LTTE counter offensive launched in the North of Iranamadu area around 6 AM. During the battle that lasted till 6 PM, 12 soldiers laid down their lives while 16 others went on missing. Also, 34 soldiers suffered injuries. Intercepted terrorist radio transmission revealed heavy damages to the LTTE.

Andy,
after the EP debacle..I dont know how the SLDF recruitment process went about.. maybe after a lot of back ground checks and stuff.. but defections against the SLDF by them has cost us a lot... but still there are non Sinhalese in the forces..but still SLDF might be cautious when they recruit tamils to the ranks... |
