Expedite Pranab s visit to Colombo: DMK to PM
CHENNAI Even as the Centre continues to keep mum on sending External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee to Colombo to urge Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on effecting a ceasefire, the DMK on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to keep his promise made to the all-party delegation on December 4 in this regard.
The DMK high-level committee chaired by party president and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi adopted a resolution to this effect. Even after 10 days since the Tamil Nadu all-party delegation met the Prime Minister, the Centre had not announced the date for Pranab s visit to Lanka.
Responding to a question, Karunanidhi said Union Minister for Shipping and Road Transport TR Baalu would meet External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukheerjee on Tuesday night itself in this regard. |
