Lankan News Replies

LTTE activities within the United States and Canada are reported to have eased to a considerable extent.

The Sri Lankan High Commission in Brussels in a statement attributed this development to the recent action taken against organisations loyal to the LTTE in these two countries. According to the statement released by the Sri Lankan High Commissioner of the European Union Ravinatha Ariyasinghe, the international community is aware of the organisations that appear on behalf of the terrorist outfit. Countries are bound to take action against the terrorists under the various UN Conventions on terrorism.

Whatever anyone says, the LTTE activity goes on in any country which has a considerable tamil population.

Fund raising is done by the tamils who support and sympathise with the LTTE unofficially in a private way. What is there to prevent people privately collecting money and then transfering it to some swiss bank account from where the funds trickle down to the LTTE coffers?

In many countries where the LTTE is banned STILL there are protest marches, meetings etc etc held against the SL govt with government ministers of those countries in attendance. eg. Canada.

Vaiko, an open supporter of the LTTE addressed the House of Commons in London about the LTTE and the problem in SL eventhough the LTTE is banned in the UK.

LTTE supporters and sympathisers regularly have awareness programmes in the UK, recently there was one such programme out in the open in Westminster near the Houses of Parliamnent without any problem from the British police or any other authority.

Recently when Minister Bogollagama was in Aussi there was a massive protest organised in Canberra by the LTTE with the support of the Aussi tamils. The LTTE is banned in Aussi but the protest went on with the Aussi police looking on.

Not as per the Hon Philip Ruddock when he was Attorney General. It must be as per Kiwi AG

Was or was not there a protest organised by the LTTE supporters and sympathisers in Canberra against the SL govt when Bogollagama was there a few weeks ago?

WOuld you deny that the LTTE has effectively been listed under United Nations arrangements, that affects a freeze on LTTE assets in Australia and as a consequence it is unlawful for the use of LTTE assets in Australia?

Have or have not LTTE offices been raided and LTTE activists been arrested in Aussi?

Please answer briefly (if you are capable of doing that without writing a harangue of waffle)

There might have been. I have been busy with my own policy work to note that.

Kiwi,

As per Mr. Ruddocks communication - LTTE is listed by the UN as a terrorist organisation. According to me then UN officials are acting in breach of their own policy - when they interact with the LTTE in Sri Lanka.

As per Mr. Ruddock, Australia has chosen to be selective about the above ruling. It has effectively therefore banned dealing in assets to and from LTTE. If this includes intangible assets - then we are all guilty of natural transfers.

They have been arrested and as per the last update I received the matters are still going in courts.

Since when did you become the administrator of this forum and since when did they have a law against philosophical analyses that you seem to be allergic to? If you do not share common faith with me - keep your distance and express objectively. That is democracy.
