Gold Medal for Lion Imperial at World Beer Championships USA
Sri Lanka s Lion Imperial beer won a Gold medal at the World Beer Championships hosted by the Beer Testing Institute (BTI) in Chicago in recently. The brand also emerged the winner in the Pale Lager category at the championships. Lion Imperial is a premium brand of the Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC portfolio, and as of now is produced exclusively for export markets.
The World Beer Championships, a part of the International Review of Spirits, is considered the most authoritative annual beer competition in the US. The competition draws a cross section of large-scale and boutique producers of beers, spirits and wines, and the Gold medal won by Lion is a significant achievement for the Sri Lankan brewer. During blind tasting of specific categories, elite panelists use a scale of four bands for scoring where Lion received an Exceptional rating confirming its brew as a truly world class beer.
Lion Imperial a premium beer with an alcohol content of 8.8 per cent, is currently exported to the US and Europe.
