If you are interested in knowing more about the stance of average Sinhalese over the whole issue, please read the article 'My perception of Tamils' in LankaJournal.org |

Kural,
Two questions
Have you seen and Met VP?
If you are asked to select one of GOSL or LTTE, your choice would be ....?
Please mind, there are dreams that never come true...Peelam is of that kind!
You still have to grow up to realize that friend!
What? Are you teaching old infants to use pacifiers?

Yarlan,
Your intention can be described as good and noble.
But for me you are too naive and didn't learn your lessons properly.
There will be no honest solution for the Tamil people. Maybe I'm wrong, but time will tell us !
News update : Sri Lankan army again targeted their 'own' civilian settlements. Few injured already. Damn! |

With edits-
Kural,
It was never my intention to insult you in any way. My family lead an upper-middle to middle-class life. I left Sri Lanka at the age of 14. I was born on October 26, 1970 (I can see people now trying to find out who is this character). I lived all over the country. I lived in Dehiwala, Wellawatte, Batticaloa, and Valvettithurai - my ancestral home. I had visited Trincomalee many times (place where my great grand parents on the paternal side lived), Kandy (where both my parents studed), Parakrama Samudra in Pollonaruwa, Passikudah, and Senanayake Samudra in Amparai. You should go and see the orchid collection at the Peradaniya Botanical Gardens or may be climb the long steps to see the Thirukoneshwarar temple in Trincomalee (and look below at the deep sea). Or, glance at the release of hot air baloons in the night time over the Palk Straits in VVT - done at the end of annual festival for Amman Kovil. I still remember the scenes from my train ride from Colombo to Kandy in a reserved car with wrap-around glass windows. You should go and see for yourself what a beautiful country you left behind. None of this means that I lived a pampered life. Both my parents worked hard so we can have a better future than they had (especially my father). Yet, after the Batticaloa cyclone and the 1983 riots, they had to start their lives all over again. May be it was my fate I had to keep moving around so many times in a short time. Du
Do you know who my Sinhala relatives are? Ha...ha. Similarly, some of the relatives from my Tamil side? It is not just growing up in Unites States that shaped my thinking. I had realized long ago about the absurdity of this war through the passage of time as well. As they say, passage of time really heals open wounds, and if you let your mind be, it will open new windows that remained shut before. Do you know Kural that even Nadesan (yes the LTTE one) is married to a Sinhalese? Or, that during the time of CFA, Sinhalese workers worked on construction projects in Vanni, many even on LTTE's projects? Because, there was a big shortage of skilled labor? Or, that even many Maveerar families had moved on with their lives? The reality in Sri Lanka is little more complicated than you would like to beleive. Do you know some of the dishes my wife makes at home? Koththu roti, chicken biryani, seeni sambol, curry bun, iddli, sambar, chutney, thosai, string hoppers, dates cake, milk tofee, vattilappam, specialty soups, noodles, shrimp curry, mutton curry, etc. Sorry guys, if this is making you hungry. The point here is many of these came from different parts of the world. Yet, they are uniquely Sri Lankan because you're not going find all of them in a single country other than Sri Lanka.

Naaca,
We all know very well who wrote it ! It is nobody else than our banned and racist Dayamanthi who once requested all Tamils to go back to Tamil Nadu ! Hence NO COMMENT.

How clever you are to find out who the author is! But that is not important friend!
If you could read that and comprehend what has been said, I'm sure you wouldn't call the author a racist!
PLease mind that all are not racists like you! That is the only positive factor that we have for peace in SL! As Yarlan says majority Tamils and Sinhalese in SL know now that racism is too costly, unlike you stupid dias(s)pora who don't get the gravity of it but nurtures hatred day and night!
A promising equation to go extinct! Grow up man/ woman!
