In your opinion do you think that the Tamils and the Tamil diaspora expect a separate state or would they settle for power sharing solution if the SL govt put forward a framework? |

I am very interested to see the report. If possible, you can ask some senior member to post it in his/her web space. Or alternatively, you can send it to LNP admin to put it.

It looks the direction changed and Rajapakses' fortune reversed.

At this rate 120,000 youths might attain Nirvana sooner than later.
If the president has any respect for human life or consider a poor Sinhalese youth is equal to his son and therefore has a right to be alive, he must STOP the war and produce a reasonable solution based on equality of all races and not on the supremacy of Sinhala Buddhists. |

I was like you until the non-implementation of PTOMS. If the GOSL cannot implement a simple administrative agreement in aid sharing for the fear of sinhala extremists, then how on earth any govt in south will implement a meaningful power sharing agreement.
CBK has sabotaged that. IC also banned tigers giving a negative message. but they could have helped Ranil come to power as he is flexible with regard to power sharing.
we cant blame Ranil for karuna defection . That is tamil people fault not being able to be united at crucial point

How can the minorities trust the leaders of the majority community who abrogated 4 agreements signed by both sides to the ethnic problem?
Also they passed legislations on Tamil Official Language in 1987 and the minister in charge of implimentation says the legislation has not been implimented during the last 21 years. |

The main responsibility lies with the SL govt to put forward a power sharing framework to find a solution.
At the same time, the Tamil diaspora should press the LTTE to come up with a tangible solution, other than a separate state.
This in turn will put pressure on the govt to kick start a dialog with the LTTE to find a solution to this burning issue.. |

They will accept a power sharing arrangement ONLY if there are mechanisms and guarantees that 'power sharing solution' will be implimented and not unilaterally abrogated later.
In Canada there is a mechanism to check on the majority in that minority French-speakers can vote on a refarendum to go separate if the majority start discriminating.
There were French speaking Premiers in power but in Sri Lanka the supremacist Sinhala Buddhist won't elect a Muslim or Tamil PM or President.
