The Yal Devi train service which earlier went only up to Medawachchiya will continue to Vavuniya beginning tomorrow (16), Operating Supervisor, Sri Lanka Railways, Vijaya Samarasinghe told www.news.lk.

According to Samarasinghe, there will be a train leaving the Fort Railway Station at 5.45 am. This train is scheduled to reach Vavuniya at 12.10 pm. There will be a return train leaving Vavuniya at 1.00 pm. It is scheduled to reach Colombo Fort at 10.00 pm.

The train service to Vavuniya was suspended in February this year due to the threat of terrorist attack and the resumption is another indicator of the success of the humanitarian mission of the security forces to rid the Wanni of terrorists, political analysts point out.

Most importantly I wonder what sort of security the train will get.. lets hope the ministry has concentrated on that as well..since last thing we want to hear is yal devi getting clamored by LTTE... and civilians loosing lives.. so adequate security should be provided.. it is good to see north and the east is getting developed...
