Read this from this Yarlan Dude if you missed it before:
I should have done this in 1995 when I penned the detailed proposals which I strongly believe formed the basis for Chandrika Kumaratunga s draft proposals for devolution of power. It had detailed outlines of a restructured government at Federal and provincial levels, mechanism for phased demilitarization, specific ideas on developing the Trincomalee region, annotated map with realistic boundaries of the Northeast Province (now de-merged into two separate entities), etc. More importantly, it laid out a clear path to the future where mechanisms were in place to prevent an ethnic war, such as the one we have today, from erupting ever again. Since I was too young from the perspective of Sri Lankans, no one wanted to believe that I was capable of drafting such proposals. The proposal I had written were never about dividing the country, but were about creating an economically strong unified State where there was room for the diversity of its people to flourish without going after each other's neck. I admit, I was way ahead of my time. Also, if anyone is even more curious, please compare the LTTE s ISGA proposals to Chandrika Kumaratunga s proposals. As many people suspected, the ISGA proposals represented the outlines of final boundaries for settlement, not interim steps as claimed by the uninformed. Remember, I didn t start the fire. But, I am trying to do what I can to end the fire. A lot of my relatives think I am on a one-man mission to bring peace to Sri Lanka. And that nothing will come out of it. Only time will tell whether it is a one-man mission or a million-man march towards peace.
I also need your help. I can t do this alone.
