With both sides using ground, sea, and air, this war is clearly a border war between two states.

If one needs to take a rational view, a good place to start is 1505. This is the year the Singala forces for their biggest war upto that time against a foreign army! Despite having home advantage, they lost.

Then Sinhala army lost to Dutch and subsequently in 1815, the British defeated the Singala forces again!

How about Tamil forces. The biggest battle they fought was against a much larger Indian army. In 1989, the Tamil army, under the guidence of Supreme Commander Velupillei Prabrhakaran not only defeated the the Indians but also forced then to leave whole of Tamil Eelam.

So, the current war has one side, the Singalese who had lost 3 consecutive wars, against Tamils who had convincingly won the historic war with Indians and saved Tamil Eelam.

If one bets, it is clear which side is most likely to win!

LTTE never recruit the children. did they? I cannot remember whether they did or not.

ltte did recruit children in the past (note the wrods ..in the past) and they were/are not a party to the international conventions on child recruitment to the armed forces..however the ltte is involved in a conventional war at present and i hope they go by the international law during the war time!

With the SLDF capturing the A9 stretch up to kanakarayankulam from Omanthai, the Vavuniya district is alsmost out of the grasp of the terrorists...when they lose Nedunkerni too, that will be bye bye Vavuniya..
