I think RW again forgot to take his medicine to cure his mental illness..

I can do well without local media-Ranil

By Yohan Perera

UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe launched a strong attack on media institutions and rights groups yesterday and blamed them for falsely accusing him of harassing media and insisted that he could do well without local media as he has the backing of international media groups.

Addressing a membership awarding ceremony held at Sirikotha, the UNP leader accused FMM spokesman Sunanda Deshapriya, Working Journalists Association President Sanath Balasuriya, Lakbima Editor Jatila Wellabada and

Daily Mirror Editor for being part of a campaign to tarnish his image.

None of the media rights groups were there when we single handedly fought for the rights of media institutions during the days of Lake House take over he reminded.

Media institutions vilified late President Premadasa and instead promoted people of the calibre of Mahinda Rajapaksa. Today they are being harassed by the very same people whom they promoted one time and now they shout said Mr. Wickremesinghe.

Mr. Wickremesinghe said that the Daily Mirror editor is too young and inexperienced to understand the dynamics of media and therefore making immature decisions.

The Daily Mirror is now under the Nazi control of the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU). The paper is now propagating communalism promoted by the JHU he maintained.

Lanka Dissent website supported the Daily Mirror editor when she was threatened by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa but later she patched up and shook hands with him he said.

Now she wants Mr. Mangala Samaraweera to apologize to her for what appeared in the website. I don t think it is necessary the UNP leader said.

The State media, Daily Mirror and Five Media collective have started gunning for me with false accusations and I just can t understand why they are doing this to me the Opposition leader commented.

At the onset of yesterday s press briefing Mr. Wickremesinghe asked this reporter in a lighter vein whether the reporter needed a bullet proof vest.

Just remember, when VP closed the fateful mavil aru and SLDF retaliated, LTTE fans thought, that will be the doom of SLDF by the following week.

and after 3 years of frustrating waiting, same LTTE fans try to put up a brave face here on the LNP and ask,

'is Killi captured yet?'

hee hee hee..
