YARLan does not talk about the Tamil Contribution to the May hem in Sri Lanka. How they are destroying Sri Lanka and the peoples lives.
HE talks only about the destruction caused to the Tamils and Tamil properties.
yeah, I felt that too, trying to depict only a one side of the story wont take us anywhere. we must look at the things in a more balanced perspective. I felt sorry for him but felt sorry for all those innocents civilians that got killed by the terrorists bombings too. what if they took up arms and retaliate. then we will have utter chaos in the country |

Adhil22,
It is not my intention to bring up 1983 repeatedly. The reason it keeps on coming up is because the fateful events from that time period lead to this war. Many of the causes that lead to those tragic days haven't gone away. It is also easier to refer to July 1983 because, for many Sinhalese in the South, they still haven't come to accept what the various Sri governments have done since then. Yes, it happened more than 25 years ago. A very long time ago. Then ,that time period should have given the average Sinhala person plenty of time to reflect on how the Tamils felt treated after July 1983 (not to mention to mention the tumultuous events themselves). Instead, the average Sinhala voter chose the path of war and destruction to solve what is essentially a problem unequal development and preferential treatment of one language over the other. For many of the Tamil intelligentsia that fled Sri Lanka after 1983, the old wounds never healed. It is one of the primary reasons behind the continued growth in LTTE s strength.
So many opportunities wasted by Presidents who had come and gone since Jeyawarane's time. I am going to be soon labeled a traitor by many Tamils in the Diaspora. Many of them, who lost far more than whatever I have lost so far by leaving the country, are not ready to forgive and forget.
