Tamil net has no proof of SLDF using cluster ammunition other than some photos with Russian letters, probably googled up from internet.
Chennai, our Defense ana$1-list knows very well that SLDF has no technology to use cluster ammunition. This story is a cooked up one by the TNA because they are running out of stories to discredit the SLDF.
You know why this cluster bomb issue suddenly unearthed? It is because Norway has a summit where nations sign a cluster bomb ban treaty. TNA and LTTE want propaganda miles from it. That's about it.

To ananda95 and others:
Yes, I know that the other side has very similar stories to tell. You have thousands of Sinhala youths whose limbs had to be amputated as the result of war. Then, you have countless innocent Sinhala victims of bomb blasts in the south of the country. War doesn t discriminate. It doesn t carefully pick and choose its victims. The West had come up with the phrases such as precision bombing and smart munitions to numb their electorates into thinking that wars are clean operations. But, we know better. So, what are we going to do end the war? Why is Prabhakaran needed at the table to find a permanent solution that will bring lasting peace to our country? Also, why do we need the help of foreign countries when many of us can t even see eye to eye on the resolution of basic issues that are the roots causes of this war? What more can the foreign States do that they haven t done already?
This is a problem created by the Sri Lankans. Now, you have to find a way to resolve it, without resorting to guns and bombs. I will show you a way soon. When I first started writing in this forum in October, I indicated that peace is coming. Except, that it is coming from unexpected quarters. Many would have thought that I alluded to the United States of America, because of Barack Obama s ascendancy to the Presidency. No. I meant the people of Sri Lanka. The ordinary man on the street is literally on the verge of realizing what the 25 years of war and peace has done to his country. All he needs is a little help from educated Sinhalese and Tamils who can still see eye-to-eye on many issues that provide the fuel to continue the war. Sri Lanka has been ruled for far too long under the mantra of Ethnicity First. Language Second. Country Last. A new slogan needs to be promoted to lead the way into the future. One that reads as Country First. Family Second. Ethnicity Last. Are you up to the challenge?

Okay snake, I'm not in this forum all the time and don't know much about you all. Sorry.
I'm sort of just an outsider who reads some posts from time to time. All I wish is there'll be peace in that wonderful island where I was born though I've got no relatives or friends living there. |

Yarlan,
Admire you for your courage and honesty sir! But one question,
Why is Prabhakaran needed at the table to find a permanent solution that will bring lasting peace to our country?
How many of your fellow Tamilians will have the courage to say that out loud???? |

if a cluster bomb weighing 500KG fallen in to a IDP camp their will be 100s of deaths and wounded, cuz they are made to spread in a wide area to maximize the kill. I saw stupid tamilnet article that says SLAF dropped 6 such bombs to the IDP camp , LMSAO!
these type of joke stories are not even in Rajini Kanths junk films.. LOLS |

That explains the story..
In addition to that, the public opinion in India has changed after the Mumbai attack. During the up coming visit to India, TNA can't look in the eyes of the Indian politicians and push a terrorist agenda. Therefore, they are cooking up humanitarian stories.. |

I am happy about the very low number of civilians casualties, reported by Tamil net, while they are loosing the land. This is very good, compare to the LTTE bus-bomb attacks in past in south. If the war moves like this, at least a nominal peace come to north, soon.
That nominal peace can last and blossom only if all Sri Lankans celeberate it as a win for all Sri Lankans. As soon as the Singhala-Buddhist rhetoric of the politicians looking for mileage comes out, All the sacrifices of the SLDF's will look shallow.
MR has to start giving White Van rides to any unstable morons starting very soon if he is serious about lasting peace.
Tamil Diaspora has to do a lot more to focus their energy on peaceful deeds and true nationalistic tamil representation. |

My friend, otherwise we would not be living here.....
Ppl are ready to sacrifice and they have done so, but terrorism has no place in this land and it needs to remain as a one country. We have an economic issue, which needs to be resolved and that can bring to an end to many things. |
