Gonix,
I too think that this kind of sombre mood is good instead of being at each others' throats. Then again what do we do for some fun????? |

Nothing brings peace to people than the sense of improving security.. It is great that the STF is back in the east and policing the trouble spots and taking out thugs. STF is the best option for liberated areas..away from the front line combat aginst the terras
Yes, I sincerely hope STF eliminate these brain washed stupids.
East is not just another province, it has two universities, one Ampara area and another in Batticaloa.

| A Sri Lankan bishop has called upon the Indian government to pressure the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam into releasing thousands of Tamil non-combatants held hostage in the northern region . Rev Thomas Savundaranayagam, a Catholic whose diocese extends to the conflict-ridden Wanni region, told a newspaper in an interview that he had sought the help of pro-LTTE legislators of the TNA to persuade the Indian government to use its influence with the LTTE for securing the release of the non-combatants. |

Yarlan .
I agree with your sentiments . applaud you that you could recognize the other sides suffering too. I dont post here as much because all it leads to is reacting to racist speak with more racist speak .
the solution should be one country and fairness for all . I also dont believe there should be any homelands for any body , the country should be the homeland for all .
I dont believe the LTTE could be an honest participant in an effort like this , there should be democratic participation from both sides and different views .

'Every country has the right to protect itself', says Indian FM
'Every country has the right to defend its territorial integrity and it has become difficult to secure such if incidents (terrorist acts) are not adequately addressed, to carry out business as usual and that includes the peace process', Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee was quoted as saying by the New Delhi media.
The Indian FM was quoted making these comments during an interview with NDTV, an Indian news channel, on Tuesday (Dec 2). 'India reserved the right to take military action if its territory was under threat', the Indian Foreign Minister further asserted.
'What will be done, time will show and you will come to know,' Minister Mujherjee was earlier quoted saying with reporters on the sidelines of the launch of an India-Arab Co-operation Forum.
His comments followed a meeting of India's security cabinet to discuss a strategy after the Mumbai attacks. Meanwhile, senior Indian Foreign Ministry officials gave a briefing to envoys of 12 countries, citizens of which were killed in the Mumbai attacks.

Yarlan:
I can only sympathize with you for the pain and suffering endured during that time period. I also applaud you for being able to let bygones be bygones. In my perspective forgiving is easier than forgetting.
Although Black Friday happened 25 years ago, there is an astonishing truth to be learned from this : power of a mob. I cannot even begin to comprehend how normal so called civilized individuals in our country turned into cold blooded murderers during that time and government was just a spectator. This instills great fear in many people including me that this could potentially happen again, history can repeat itself.
There is massacre going on in the North right now. All that is being accomplished by the Sl government right now retrieving land back from the terrorist to claim as it's own at the expense of many thousands of lives which includes men, women and CHILDREN. Not only are they being killed by weapons but also by deprivation of food & water and medication. People will talk about this time period for another 25 years as well. Is this the definition of achieving peace in the minds of people who support war? How can you even think of peace when there is blood shed of innocent people.
Certain comments I read on this post makes me wonder whether people think that lives killed by all the bomb blasts in places besides the North are worth more than lives that are being sacrificed right now in the North. Sl government might win land but will have difficulty winning the hearts of the Tamil people by their present mode of actions. Till that happens this war will continue.
