Berty,
i'm afraid i have to agree with Deborak on your degree of honesty.

btw, something i have learned in my life is that,
'he who is dishonest with others, is also dishonest with himself!'

at the end of the day, what matters for both the 'majority parties' on LNP and outside (i.e pro / anti PTTE) is...

HOW WELL EITHER PARTY CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR BELIEFS, AND THUS ACTIONS, AND THEN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SAME!

as far as that is concerned, we'll see what unravels in the coming days...

sorry, but that's my first and last post for today - have a load of work, of which some is coming your way (i.e. HK's way) too... :)

AstroLTTE,

We put paalam instead of peelam. See how many paalams constructed in the North to protect the unity of the people.

ICICI Bank withholds US$ 25mn loan

By Paneetha Ameresekere

ICICI Bank (ICICIB) has delayed releasing a US$ 25 million loan requested by the government after Friday s Supreme Court judgment, a top Central Bank (CB) source speaking on grounds of anonymity told The Morning Leader.

International lenders harbour fears that consequent to the SC interim injunction that prevented the state run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) from honouring its hedging contracts, that it may be a precursor to stop similar payments by the government.

The interim injunction prevented CPC from honouring its hedging contracts until CB investigations in this regard are completed.

'Otherwise the government would have had received this payment to meet its expenditure needs by last Friday,' he said.

However in the context of Friday s judgment, ICICIB s lawyers are now re-examining the agreement, the source said. They are expected to take a decision in this regard in a day or two, he said.

This loan which is of a three year tenure and which clauses could be re-negotiated after every year of its three year tenure carries an interest rate of LIBOR plus 2.5%.
