Investigations were directed at finding whether the LTTE was in any way involved in the terrorist attack on Mumbai, the commercial hub of India, but with evidence pointing towards Pakistan based militants any LTTE involvement was ruled out, a high ranking Indian official said.
The New Delhi based Indian Foreign Ministry official told the Daily Mirror yesterday that India had looked at a possible LTTE connection into the attacks especially after Pakistan publicly said such a connection was possible.
`Pakistan told Indian officials to look into all aspects, including an LTTE or Al-Qaeda connection. Pakistan also informed India that some of the terrorists appeared to be South Indians and looked like LTTE cadres. India investigated every angle,` the official said.
London`s Pakistani High Commissioner in an interview told BBC over the weekend that some of the terrorists looked very much like South Indians.
Pakistan also did not rule out an Al Qaeda connection, especially because the terrorists had particularly looked out for British and American nationals at the Taj and Oberoi/ Trident hotels.
But the evidence collected during the interrogation of one of the terrorists, captured by the Indian military, pointed towards elements in Pakistan.
An Indian government official said according to evidence some of the terrorists had spoken in Punjabi - which led the detectives to believe the terrorists could have belonged to a Pakistani terror group.
Meanwhile, some countries said last week`s terror attacks in Mumbai bore signs of Al Qaeda involvement especially because its main target had been British and American nationals.
The terrorists traveling in by sea followed a Al-Qaeda blueprint with the underlying theme being to cause as much havoc as possible and this is exactly what has happened in India,` London-based terrorism expert George Kassimeris said.
A senior research fellow at the University of Wolverhampton said different militant groups around the world were copying the Al Qaeda blueprint on terrorist operations.

That Professor should know that it is the LTTE, who did cld massacres of civilians in 80's, earlier than Al Qaeda. |

Mumbai: possible Sri Lankan Tiger links probed..
Only the dumb head Sinhalese who are trying to back fight the Tamils, can come out with this kind of blaming games, because they have no guts to fight directly and it is the only way to hide their inability to run the Sorry Lanka.
If somebody have very little brain, can very easily Analise this matter.
No1.What are these Israelis doing in the Thaj Hotel?
No2.Why they are looking for American & British passport holders?
Why it take three days to kill two'Terrorists', by Three Hundred 'Black Cats'in Thaj Hotel?
The actual reason of this incident is not disclosed by the Indian Government, because it will a shameful matter and an utter failure of the Indian Intelligent authorities.
The American & the British with the cooperation of the Israelis were planning for a big game against a Muslim Country and it was smelled by the ISI of Pakistan.
This is the Main theme of this game and it was successfully accomplished by the Pakistani Authorities with the indirect help of Sri Lankan Intelligent authorities..
So,Sri Lankan 'Terrorist' Government also involved in this matter in helping Pakistanis because of some cheap gains.
But the Mud headed Sinhalese do not understand these things and they are good in talking like JVP id.ots and 'Bana'monks..
The truth always come late?

Instead of 'telling' Indians, Pakistan would 'share' intelligence from within - if it Pakistan was clean.
Where one does not have a reliable structure, one must start with intuition comfirmed by physical evidence immediately available. Otherwise, precious time would be wasted by going in the wrong direction
Also, if LTTE were so powerful, then by now Colombo would have suffered similar attack - especially targetting westerners. LTTE would not because most of their support is from Tamils living in Western countries - as ordinary citizens of those countries. It's an intuitive protection enjoyed by those countries through Tamils.
That is how the good karma of the countries that offered refuge to Tamils is protecting them. They sowed then and are reaping now. Edited By - Gaja - 2 Dec 2008 19:42:25 GMT |

Vanni situation deteriorating: UNP
TamilNet, Tuesday, 02 December 1997, 23:59 GMT]
The UNP today called for an adjournment debate in the Sri Lankan Parliament on what it described as the deteriorating food and medical situation in the Vanni. The UNP had discussions with the Tamil parties in Parliament this afternoon on the matter.
The UNP's position on the Vanni, according to party sources, is based on a report by an unofficial fact finding mission which visited this region recently. The area is under the LTTE's control.
The UNP headquarters put out a communique this evening regarding the adjournment debate. The UNP communique states-
'The leader of the Opposition summoned a meeting with the other parties in the opposition to discuss the deteriorating situation in the Vanni area where over 485,000 people including nearly 300,000 refugees are trapped.'
'The distribution of food in these areas had virtually come to a halt, threatening the population with starvation and the situation has been further aggravated by the spread of Malaria and Cholera and the lack of medicines.'
'It was decided therefore that the Opposition would jointly call for an adjournment debate to focus attention of the government on the plight of the people of the Vanni and to press the government to take speedy remedial action before the situation gets out of hand.'
'Mr.R. Sambandan of the TULF, Mr.P.P Devaraj of the CWC, Mr.Sithadthan of the DPLF, Mr. S Thangavel of the EPDP along with Mr. Tyronne Fernando and Mrs. R. Pulendran of the UNP participated in the discussions.' |

from the situation there are doubts if LTTE has any direct link to this such as join the attacks.. maybe pakistan trying to get away with the brunt of the accusations.. either ways this attack certainly did not go in favor of the LTTE either they are involved or not.. which is a good thing.. and a good message to the Indians to not to tolerate terrorism.. |
