Sri Lanka gets temporary reprieve on EU trade scheme

the EU extending the GSP+ to srilanka in contradictory to the 27 agreements to strengthen it's economy which is funding the current war is nothing more than an act of helping the Tamil genocide.

we have paid the price for freedom with more than 300,000 lives (WFP survey) besides the destruction of our economy, education and culture in our own home land.

The government has admitted there are abuses and that it is working hard to address them

it has been the case since the war started,, the perpetrators enjoyed total impunity and still carry out the same human rights abuses,,for example, no body was brought to book for the chemmani massacre or for the binduwenna massacre..both in the 90s..

Sri Lanka: Human Rights Situation Deteriorating in the East
Armed Faction Is Killing, Kidnapping Civilians
November 24, 2008
The Sri Lankan government says that the liberated East is an example of democracy in action and a model for areas recaptured from the LTTE. But killings and abductions are rife, and there is total impunity for horrific abuses. The Sri Lankan government should take immediate steps to address the deteriorating human rights situation in the country s Eastern Province, where there has been an increase in killings and abductions in recent weeks, Human Rights Watch said today.

Sri Lanka: Allow Aid Groups to Help Cyclone Victims
Government Should Lift Restrictions on UN and Other Groups Now
November 29, 2008
The Sri Lankan government should stop playing games with aid organizations and let them get on with their life-saving work. Tens of thousands of people in flooded areas of the Vanni are without adequate shelter and need help now.
.Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch.(New York) The Sri Lankan government should immediately lift its September order barring humanitarian agencies from the Vanni conflict area in northern Sri Lanka so they can assist thousands of persons displaced by flooding from Cyclone Nisha.

300,000 lives....that's what happens when you trust a psychopath....particularly when you remove any conrol over him and instead worship him as a sun goat.....and the peelamists claim they have smarts??? ah, virtual brains...just like the virtual republic!
