Aussie boy and toyota - working in canberra you need to be working in the right fields. for example, if you are in financial services, law etc ... sydney and melb is where the action is i am afraid.

Yeah, but you can still work for the treasury department, right? Isn't that located in Canberra?? That's my plan anyway, but if that doesn't work, i might have to move out of the finance industry... Let's see how it goes...

sure ... but early in your career i seriously doubt whether a govt dept would be the best place to work. your remuneration and more importantly the work experience will be richer in the private sector. govt sector is good once you get a bit older and winding down for retirement :) just my view .. and no offence intended to anyone who works for govt!!

The pain continues for the peelamists:
India not to remove ban on LTTE

New Delhi (IANS): India has no intention of lifting the ban on Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers, official sources said Friday.

The sources were responding to a plea to this effect that Velupillai Prabhakaran, the founder leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), made Thursday evening as part of his annual speech.

The sources, speaking to IANS on the condition of anonymity, said the question of acceding to the request did not arise since the ban, first imposed in 1992, had been extended for another two years only now.

India was the first country to outlaw the LTTE, which is fighting for a separate homeland to be carved out of Sri Lanka's northeast, following the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Since then, several countries have followed suit.

In his Nov 27 address from an undisclosed destination, Prabhakaran said that he wanted to'build a constructive relationship' with India, which he described as a 'superpower'.

Army intercepts LTTE group in Thanthirimale

Sri Lanka Army last evening (Dec 1) intercepted an LTTE group detected in the Bogoda area, in Thanthirimale, defence sources said.

According the sources, troops acting on intelligence reports launched a search operation in the remote village bordering the Willpattu forest reserve. During the search, troops detected the LTTE group and launched a surprise attack around 7.30 PM.

Following the confrontation, troops found a body of a slain LTTE cadre, along with a T-56 riffle, 4 magazines and a belt order. Search operations are being continued, the sources added.

getting hammered is LTTPs only job these days
